Little Theatre of Weston seeks to add to that community by expanding performance opportunities and cultivating a more diverse environment. Weston is home to an established and thriving community of performers and performance organizations such as Weston Community Theatre. We will be serving the community of Weston and surrounding rural areas. By accessing local talents, a variety of venues, and other professional resources, the community, local merchants, and the Little Theatre of Weston are all able to benefit and grow from positive collaboration. Our purpose is to provide access, training, involvement, and enjoyment of diverse theatrical activities in as many settings as is feasible. The mission of the Little Theatre of Weston is to elevate the arts and humanities by providing quality entertainment and education to the community and surrounding areas, while supporting Weston’s commercial and cultural exchange and growth. This movement believed that music and theatrical arts could be used to help both society and the self by expression. The resulting drama was marked by a spirit of innovation and by a new seriousness and maturity. Little Theatre opposed commercialism, instead seeking to improve economic conditions within the theatre through cooperation with the community while fostering greater artistic exploration and the promotion of new plays. Some Little Theatre groups became commercial producersfor example, the Washington Square Players, founded in 1915, which became the Theatre Guild (first production in 1919). Historically, the Little Theatre Movement pulsed through a network of amateur theatre activities operating across the United States in the 1920’s. We want to introduce you to the newly formed Little Theatre of Weston.
